Knee Joint Replacement
-
THIGH COMPONENT TECHNOLOGY
- Regardless of the chosen surgical technique, whether with the preservation of the cruciate ligament (CR) or without the preservation of the cruciate ligament (PS), a universal instrument is utilized.
- Bone preservation promoting deep flexion.
- Thin anterior flange.
- A six-degree angle of intercondylar depth ensures smooth sliding of the femoral component.
- Optimal ratio of femoral and tibial components, promoting high rotation in flexion.
- Left and right components, each available in eight sizes, corresponding to four sizes of the tibial component, catering to the needs of every patient.
- Material alloy - cobalt-chromium-molybdenum (CoCr).
-
TECHNOLOGY OF POLYETHYLENE INSERT FOR THE TIBIAL COMPONENT
- The polyethylene tibial component is specially designed with the property of increased deep flexion, confirmed in the US FDA registry.
- Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) inserts are available for both CR and PS implantation techniques.
- Using advanced computer modeling programs, the insert design is developed to replicate knee kinematics, ensuring anatomical movement of the femoral component and internal rotation.
- The features of the recessed anterior-inferior form of the insert result in a soft clearance during deep flexion.
- The polyethylene tibial component serves as a good alternative to the metal tibial component.
-
TECHNOLOGY OF THE TIBIAL COMPONENT
- Cobalt-chromium tibial component supports optimal stabilization during deep flexion due to its low-profile keel, FDA-approved.
- The mechanism with five peripheral locking blocks ensures stable fixation of the insert and eliminates micro-movements between the metal component and polyethylene insert, reducing wear on the insert and thereby enhancing the implant's durability.
- The tibial component is universal, suitable for both the right and left legs, regardless of the surgical technique used (CR or PS).
-
POLYETHYLENE PATELLAR COMPONENT
- Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) patellar component with a symmetrical design for optimal tracking between the patella and femoral component.
- Available in a range of sizes in diameter and thickness, allowing for the selection of an individual size for each patient.
- Central cement pockets and a three-screw design provide a better bone interface and optimal stability.
FOR PATIENTS
FREEDOM TO BE ACTIVE!
The knee is the largest and one of the strongest joints in the body. It is also delicate and complex, connecting the thigh with the shin and comprising bones, ligaments, tendons, and cartilage. Movements in the knee joint are essential for daily activities such as walking, climbing stairs, standing, and sitting. As the knee is an integral part of normal functioning, it is often susceptible to injuries and arthritis.
Pain associated with arthritis may start suddenly, but more commonly, it develops gradually over time. You may initially feel pain upon waking up in the morning or when standing up after prolonged sitting. Some patients mention that changes in weather can trigger arthritis pain.
WHY DO YOU NEED KNEE JOINT REPLACEMENT SURGERY?
Knee joint replacement surgery is considered when all other conservative options have provided no relief. If you have followed all your doctor's recommendations and still experience pain, stiffness, or instability, it's time to consider an option that allows you to reclaim your life.
The goal of knee joint replacement surgery is to alleviate pain and restore knee mobility. Your orthopedic surgeon will remove damaged and diseased parts at the end of the femur (thigh bone) and the top of the tibia (shin bone) and replace them with artificial implants made of metal or plastic. Each bone has a specific shape to precisely match the prosthesis. The components are then attached to the femur, tibia, and patella, most commonly using surgical cement.
